Covid 19 Requirements for our meeting
We are required by CIBC to conform to the current requirements for meetings and gatherings of people and we have submitted a plan to them to advise the steps we will be taking for the protection of our members.
Upon arrival you will firstly be asked to use the sanitiser provided at the entry, you will then be asked to sign the attendance register.
The room has been rearranged to comply with social distancing requirements - all seats will be 1.5 meters apart, so unless you are a couple you are asked to not move the chairs around.
Supper will be provided for you as usual, but not sadly at the normal delicious standard. Supper will be served from the servery and you will have to serve yourself. No one is permitted to enter the kitchen. A garbage bin will be in the room where you are to put all your used cups, spoons, plates etc.
Before the meeting closes you will be provided with a disposable sanitised cloth which you will then use to wipe over your chair before stacking it against the wall. We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

The Don Attree Founders Award 2020
Now is the time to start thinking about entering this CCG annual competition. This is a DPI Nature competition, open to all grades - more info can be found on MPC or by clicking here. Don Attree was a founding member of CCG. He passed away in June 2005. Without Don’s organisational skills, drive, determination and sheer love of photography Caloundra Camera Group would not exist. Don initiated the original meeting to form a photographic group in Caloundra in January 1997 and due to his efforts 21 members formed Caloundra Camera Group with Don as the first President. He remained on the executive committee for a number of years, once again taking the mantle of President in 2000, and was granted Life Membership in 2001. |

Please make our newest member Mary Lazdins welcome and introduce yourself to her when you meet her at our next meeting.
Come join us on our next outing - this time to.....
Bribie Island Sunday the 11th of October 2020 This will be a day on Bribie Island where we meet for morning tea (or coffee). There we will be divided into teams depending on the number of participants, to compete for Cherry Ripe prizes, making photos in response to the clues given to each team. The first set of clues will have us exploring Woorim where we will meet for lunch, before travelling to Bellara to photograph the answers to more clues before finally finishing off with a shot of an iconic Sunshine Coast view over afternoon tea and heading home, doubtless tired but happy. Contact Gerry for more info or to book. |

The Frank Hurley Photography Awards 2020
Conserving Australia’s Antarctic Heritage
The Frank Hurley Photography Awards is organised and presented by the Mawson’s Huts Foundation Ltd., a registered not for profit charity established in 1997 dedicated to conserving Australia’s most isolated heritage property, the original expedition huts of 1911-14 Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE). Situated at Cape Denison in East Antarctica, the buildings, now known as Mawson’s Huts were built by the expedition team and used as their main base for two years. Led by Dr Douglas Mawson (who was later knighted), the team included the 26-year old Frank Hurley as the official photographer, who operated from a tiny 1.2m2 darkroom within the main hut.
Net proceeds from the Frank Hurley Photography Awards will go to support the vital work of helping to conserve Australia’s Antarctic heritage for generations still to come. More info here.

Out from the Mist
This a photography and short movie competition and Queensland supported. All you need is a smart phone to enter (although more upmarket kit is OK too). The competition is about mental illness but is also about so much more. Individuals facing challenges to their mental wellbeing are varied in their experiences and their responses. This competition hopes to capture the breadth of that diversity, from the experiences of pain and suffering, caring and empathy for loved ones, through to the elation of conquering obstacles. All stories are valid and welcome: the competition aims to showcase the strengths and the travails, the joyous moments and the sad, of those who directly or indirectly confront the challenges of mental illness. Entries close September 25. Find out more here: |
