Another reminder
Entries to our March 11 competition 'I C M' also fall due on February 12. What is 'I C M' you ask? Our definition is 'Moving the camera during exposure to show movement in the image'. It's not too late to get your entries in for what should be a great comp.

The date is April 4 commencing at 9.00 am - please mark this date in your calendar.
The sections for 2020 are Open Colour, Open Mono, People, Nature and Social Documentary, both print and DPI - and yes there are categories for
both A and B graders,
Last year we had great success with John Roberts taking out 1st place in A Grade Open Print and being named Champion. Mike West took out 1st place in Social Documentary A Grade and John Roberts also scored 1st place in Nature A Grade. So lets see if we can top that in 2020.

Outings for 2020
Gerry has been very busy planning a full year of outings for 2020
February 22 - Maleny Camera Capers. We will meet at 10am at Monica's Cafe, 43 Beech Street Maleny, it's up the top of town. After coffee we will then wander down the street, taking about 15 photos of various objects, signs etc. which you will be given on a slip of paper. Then, whilst we are enjoying lunch all the images will be loaded into the laptop. You must take you images in jpg and only take one image of each subject, no deleting. The photos will be shown at the following share night when the winner will be announced. The winning photo will be the funniest, as judged by a panel of three.
March 21 - Early morning, long exposure sunrise photo shoot at Point Cartwright
April 19 - Day trip to Gympie
May 16 to 18 - Weekend away at Maryborough
Please mark all these dates in your diary and don't forget to put your name down in the Events book if you are planning on attending.

WOW - he's done it again
David Bryan has just been awarded his FAPS (Fellow of the Australian Photographic Society). To obtain this he had to have 200 acceptances in International Competitions only and within those 200 acceptances there had to be 10 titles which had to have received at least one award from five different countries.
He has also just received the news that he is amongst the Top 20 finalists in the Wildlife and Animal category of the Photographer of the Year 2019 competition (sponsored by Panasonic and APS) – for this he had to enter a portfolio of four images – he entered four images called “At the Night Hide”, all taken during his last trip to South Africa. Not sure yet who the winner of the category is – I guess this will be announced in the next edition of the Australian Photography magazine. Stay tuned and congratulations David from us all.

PSQ 2020 Convention
Will be held in Mackay over the May Day long weekend (May 1 - 4 inclusive). Creative Shots Photo Club (Mackay) and Mackay Camera Group Inc are working hard with the local PSQ committee to organise an outstanding event you won’t want to miss. There will be ten or more impressive photographic speakers, each well known in their field of expertise, and most of them will also be conducting workshops to teach their methods. Interesting outings, such as a bus tour to photograph the kangaroos on the beach at sunrise, evening light painting and many more are planned. They are a friendly bunch of photography addicts in Mackay and they'd love to meet you all for welcome drinks on Friday night and a kick up your heels together at the Gala Dinner on Sunday evening. In between there’ll be lots for you to see, do and learn and they guarantee you’ll be inspired as never before. Tickets, speaker profiles and accommodation deals are available at https://psq2020.com
