Reminder
Entry to our July competition 'Close Up / Macro' will close at 11.59 pm June 10, so please get your entries in before then.
Sadly we are all still limited to 1 DPI per category - the end is in sight though and we should be back together again soon.
The definition for the subject is 'To be taken close to the subject to show detail, macro gets even closer'.

Our last Share Night
Wow, what a night - and if you didn't make it along you really missed out on an inspirational event. Robin Hills was the guest speaker - Robin is a photographer, adventurer, pilot and a delightful person to boot. Robin thrilled us with spectacular images taken through the window of a chopper as she and her husband criss crossed across the USA. With commentary on the hazards and challenges faced when flying a helicopter Robin kept us glued to our seats. Big thank you to Helen Debnam for enticing Robin to visit us and with fingers crossed Helen may encourage Robin to visit us again in the not to distant future.

'A Day in the Life of Gympie'
Our first outing - Lets celebrate! Sunday June 21 The challenge.... We will all have a number of images to take, at 12 different locations. We will be in groups of four members, four in one car or in two cars - it's up to you. Each group will take 3 or 4 photos at each location, which they will submit for judging. At each location a close up or macro photo is to be taken, a wide angle and a standard focal length of 50mm or 35mm, depending on your camera. We will all meet at 10 am at a cafe yet to be decided, and then move out with the instructions of the order of the locations to be photographed. There are buildings (public and a church), a street, gardens and a skate park. You will need to use you imagination to find the 3 different types of images. We will have lunch with a break for an hour, also at a location yet to be decided. After lunch there will be four more locations to be photographed. We will then meet at our finish location, where images will be uploaded on to the club’s laptop. That should be at about 3.30 pm. We have had a good number of members indicate that they are going to Gympie on the 21st June, and we will love more members join us, this is one of those occasions to learn from your fellow photographers. The judges have not been appointed yet. Bring your camera, tripod, GPS, water and a sense of fun and adventure. Please let Gerry know if you wish to join all the other members going to Gympie on [email protected] |
The excitement keeps coming
Now to really celebrate our new found freedom we plan to go to....MARYBOROUGH Hello Maryborough trippers and those thinking about it. Gerry has asked me (Greg Larchin) to step up and look after organisation for this event and I have accepted. Maryborough abounds with a wonderful variety of photo opportunities. I have already made contact with the Visitors Centre and will continue to maintain contact as we draw closer to the event. Attractions will be opening up from here on and I will work to stay abreast of those so we can put together an itinerary with a variety of activities and photo opportunities. If you are planning to come and haven't yet put your name down please contact me to do so - [email protected] The very important dates are August 27 until August 31 or longer if you wish We will be staying at the Huntsville Caravan Park There are some great cabins there and plenty of van sites, but you are asked to make your booking directly with the park and asap (Queensland and tourism will be on the move) and we would hate you to miss out. If the cabins are booked out (and they may well be) then perhaps consider the Minerals Sands Motel which is 1 minute by car or 13 minutes on foot away from the caravan park. This will be a great opportunity for us all to relax and rekindle the relationships that have been on hold for so long. |
