Entries close for our final competition of the year on Wednesday, October 14 at 11.59 pm. The subject is 'Change'.
For those who attended our last Share Night we were given some inspiration by Jeff Heck who presented us with a slideshow giving heaps of different ideas on what constitutes 'Change'. Thanks so much Jeff, you certainly stimulated our imagination.

It's all about the ANNUAL AWARDS
Yes, we are now at the pointy end of the year and that means it is time to begin to think about uploading your images for the Annual Awards.
There are two separate sections to the annual awards.
Section 1 is for the Accumulated Points Awards, which you don't have to worry about as it is done behind the scenes in MPC
Section 2 is for the Annual DPI Competitions only - which you do have to worry about.
The Annual DPI Competitions are now open for entries
Details of the rules and entry procedures are listed below.
The closing date for entries to the Annual Competition is 11.00 pm, Sunday November 15, 2020.
This date allows you to enter images you may have entered into our competition on November 11, 2020. Please note you will have only 3 days after the November competition to add or change your annual entries. This schedule allows time for our Annual Competition judge to judge the digital entries and for the awards medals and trophies to be engraved.
Please Note: You may not be able to upload your images until Oct 8, as the Webmaster is currently away sailing!!!

Details of the rules and entry procedures are listed below.
- Members may enter two images of their own choice into each of the three categories: Set Subject, Art Photography, and Open Subject in the Digital competitions (A and B Grades where applicable). This means there is a limit of 6 entries overall.
- Each entry must be an image that was entered in a CCG monthly competition in 2020. The entry must come from the same category that it was entered into during the year. It does not have to have received an award during the year. No new or altered images can be uploaded.
- The required image specifications are the same as for monthly comps:
- Images must be JPEG format.
- Maximum pixel dimensions = 1920 horizontal × 1080 vertical.
- Maximum file size = 2 megabytes.
- Title is limited to 35 characters; special characters not allowed. Please do not include file name information, such as month, category, etc. in the title; just the brief title. (MPC automatically uses the file name as your title, so please edit it to remove extra text.)

Bribie Island
Sunday the 11th of October 2020
This will be a day on Bribie Island where we meet for morning tea (or coffee). There we will be divided into teams depending on the number of participants, to compete for Cherry Ripe prizes, making photos in response to the clues given to each team.
The first set of clues will have us exploring Woorim where we will meet for lunch, before travelling to Bellara to photograph the answers to more clues before finally finishing off with a shot of an iconic Sunshine Coast view over afternoon tea and heading home, doubtless tired but happy.
Contact Gerry for more info or to book.

The Frank Hurley Photography Awards 2020
Conserving Australia’s Antarctic Heritage
The Frank Hurley Photography Awards is organised and presented by the Mawson’s Huts Foundation Ltd., a registered not for profit charity established in 1997 dedicated to conserving Australia’s most isolated heritage property, the original expedition huts of 1911-14 Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE). Situated at Cape Denison in East Antarctica, the buildings, now known as Mawson’s Huts were built by the expedition team and used as their main base for two years. Led by Dr Douglas Mawson (who was later knighted), the team included the 26-year old Frank Hurley as the official photographer, who operated from a tiny 1.2m2 darkroom within the main hut.
Net proceeds from the Frank Hurley Photography Awards will go to support the vital work of helping to conserve Australia’s Antarctic heritage for generations still to come. More info here.

"Technology has eliminated the basement darkroom and the whole notion of photography as an intense labor of love for obsessives
and replaced them with a sense of immediacy and instant gratification."
